second oral presentation

discussion essay

Everybody knows that being a celebrity means, having a lot of money, doing whatever you want, having nice things and many othersand i' sure that a lot of people would like to be one. Famous people don't really know that they are famouse because they have never experienced anythink else, they have been grown up and educated as celebrities. I think they are very lucky people.

On one hand, famouse people start off on the television where they are seen and loved by everyone who watches them. Althought they might be famous they still have a lot of work to do, like going to conferences, making speaches to big crouds, but there hard work is normally paid off because they eaarn a lot of money and they grow in popularity.

On the other hand, famouse people don't have a lot of privacy, a lot of people know who you are and where you live. paperazzi follow you everywhere taking photos when possible and lookin to see if you do anything that you not supose to so that they can tell the world. So famouse people are always carefull of what they do.

Personally I would like to try to be a celebrity , but on the condition that I could go back and not be a celebrity when I wanted, just in case anything went wrong. I think that you have to have the personallity to be a celebrity, and be able to deal with the pressure, thats why maby I would prefer my own live.

History and geography:
Jamaica is an island of the greater antilles situated in the carribean sea. It is 234 kilometers in length and as much as 80 kilometres in width. The first settlers there were the arawack and the taino, originating from south america. They first settled there between 4000 and 1000 BC. When christopher comunbus first arrived there were many villages already formed and ruled by chiefs. The taino tribes were largely increasing when the spanish first arrived . The tainos were still living on the island until the beitish finally took control. It has been saif that The taino bloodline has been absorbed into the population. The english generals, william penn ans robert venables, seized the island in 1655. during the next 200 years jamaica became the worlds leadins sugar exporter. It was a slave dependent country

By the beginning of the 19th century, The British government drew-up laws regimenting the abolition of slavery, but they also included instructions for the improvement of the slaves' way of life. Jamaica slowly gained increasing independence from the United Kingdom and in 1958, it became a province in the. Jamaica attained full independence by leaving the federation in 1962
dialalects and accents:
The official language of Jamaica is English. Informally, Jamaican Patois , is more commonly spoken by a majority of the population. Although British English is the most obvious influence on patois, it includes words and syntax from various African languages, other European languages, Pre-Columbian Caribbean languages and Asian languages evidence of historical admixture. In general, patois differs from English in pronunciation, grammar, nominal orthography and syntax. The language's characteristics include pronouncing /θ/ as [t] and /ð/ as [d], and omitting some initial consonant sounds, principally /h/. A number of linguists classify Jamaican Patois as a separate language, while others consider it to be a dialect of English.
Culture:
tha jamaican culture is like a mixture of all the cultures that have inhabited the greater antilles island, jamaica. The largest religion is the christian faith. ements of ancient African religions remain in remote areas, most of which practices are described generally as Obeah, Kumina or Pocomania.
An internationally known aspect of Jamaica's African-Caribbean culture is the Rastafarian movement, that are expressed by reggae music. Rastafari is a local culture, based on some selected teachings of the Old Testament in the bible. Some Rastafari wear their hair in an untended, uncut condition called dreadlocks. However, like most local cultures, there are various strands of thought and practice rather than just one written dogma of the Rastafari movement.
Dance has always been important in Jamaica - from colonial times until the present. Early folk rhythms and movements were associated with Christian holidays. More recently, dances have become associated with the music of Jamaica, particularly dancehall styles. More than 30 distinctive Jamaican dances have been identified. Ska music, with fast beats, also had fast dances. The slow to rocksteady also developed slower dances, allowing dancers to stay on the floor longer. Reggae is associated with many things, including the Rastafarian movement, but influenced the newer styles.

In Wight Island, Amy Nicholls arrives in the old Mercy Falls Children Hospital to work as night nurse as replacement of the former nurse Susan. The hospital is in a deactivation process, with the patients being transferred to Saint James Hospital; however, due to a train crash, the closing process has been postponed. Amy is introduced to eight children with lung cases by the nurse Helen Perez, and she feels a sort of attraction for the terminal girl Maggie. Maggie likes to play with some letter blocks to talk with the "mechanical girl" called Charlotte that would live upstairs, in an abandoned floor. Amy asks about Charlotte to her coworkers and they explain that she is an urban legend and the Maggie is making up her existence. An asteroid (inside circle) passed within 38,000 miles of Earth on Monday.

A fifty meter wide asteroid passed close to the earth on Monday. The astronomer who spotted the asteroid said that there was nothing to worry about.

The asteroid called DD45 passed within twice the height of the satelites that gwe depend on for comunications. McNaught, who watches for asteroids with his telescope northwest of Sydney, Australia, discovered the approaching rock last week."It's not something to worry about, but something to be aware of," he said.

"If discovered in advance and with enough lead time, there is the possibility of pushing it off course, if you have decades of advance warning," McNaught said. "If you have only a few days, you can evacuate the area of impact, but there's not a great deal [else] you can do."

A global catastrophe was very unlikley he said, even thought hundreds of asteroids pass clode to the earth every year.

The 2009 DD45 asteroid circles the sun every 18 months, but its path will not threaten this planet at least for the next century, he said.

Description a friend

Luis is a very good friend of mine from Spain. He is eighteen years old, he has brown hair and brown eyes, he's got a friendly face. He is a short for his age ,typical catalan. He's is from Barcelona, that's where I first met him, at a waterski tournament in the Olympic river in Barcelona.

What I like most about him would be his personality, he is a very outgoing and energetic person, always wanting to do something and have fun. But he is also an expressive, intelligent and a very sociable person , he is at the very least a shy person.

When Handball and Waterskiing are involved he always has a determined look on his face as he is involved in a handball team and he is on the Spanish waterski team with me, so he's really competetive, . He is'nt an aggresive person , he seems quite calm when you talk to him.

Although he is a very good student he likes going out with his friends to parties, when the carnaval was on in a town where he has a house he invited me to sleep there, I declined the offer but that is an example of his friendlyness and loyalness to his friends. I think that luis is a once in a lifetime person and I am priviledged to be his friend and for him to be a part in my life.
